How to Care for Your Le Petit Society Clothes, Swimwear, Bags and Personalised Items

11 October 2026 Care Guide
Le Petit Society children's clothing care guide

When your child finds a favourite piece they want to wear again and again, the last thing you want is for it to fade or lose its shape. In our years of designing for children, we have learnt a few habits that help clothes, swimwear and bags last, often from one child to the next. This guide brings together our care advice in one place.

Always check the care label and product page for each item first, as instructions can differ between pieces.

How should I wash Le Petit Society clothes?

  • Use cold water. Many of our pieces are coloured or printed, and heat can weaken dyes and crack prints. If there is a stain, spot clean it first, then wash the garment on a cold cycle as usual.
  • Separate whites and colours. This stops darker colours from dulling lighter ones.
  • Turn clothes inside out when washing and drying to help protect colours and prints.
  • Treat delicates gently. Use a gentle cycle and a laundry bag for pieces with sequins or tulle, and avoid soaking them.

What is the best way to dry them?

Shake out and open up each piece after washing so prints do not stick together, and gently pull the sides straight if they have twisted in the machine. This helps clothes keep their shape. Avoid putting printed items in the dryer, as heat can crack the print.

How do I care for organic cotton and bamboo babywear?

Our organic sleepsuits, rompers and swaddles are made from 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton, and our Luxe Bamboo pieces are OEKO-TEX and FSC certified. As set out in our fabric guide:

  • Organic cotton: machine wash in cold water, air dry to preserve the fabric, and iron on low heat if necessary.
  • Bamboo: machine wash in cold water and air dry to preserve softness. Avoid ironing; steam if needed.

How should I wash swimwear?

Our swimwear offers UPF 50 sun protection and is made with quick-dry, recycled fabric. To help it last, follow the care instructions on our swimwear:

  • Cool machine wash
  • Wash inside out
  • Line dry
  • Do not bleach, iron or dry clean

See our swim collection.

Can I wash my child's school backpack?

The care instructions for our backpacks are:

  • Spot clean minor stains with a damp cloth.
  • The bag can be machine washed on a delicate cycle inside a mesh bag, to stop zips and straps snagging. Do not wash it with coloured clothing that could stain the bag.
  • Hang dry in the shade.
  • Do not tumble dry, wring, bleach, dry clean or iron.

Please note that our LPS Toughness Guarantee may not cover damage caused by machine washing, so spot cleaning is the gentler choice. Browse our backpacks and accessories.

How do I keep a lunch bag fresh?

Empty your child's lunch bag after every use, throw away leftover food and leave it open to air out overnight. If the lunch bag has iron-on patches, spot cleaning is recommended. For packing tips, read how to keep kids' lunches fresh in Singapore's heat.

How do I care for personalised items and patches?

Le Petit Society guide to caring for personalised products and patches

  • Iron-on patches: our iron-on patches are designed for durability, but they will not stay securely attached indefinitely. We do not recommend washing items with iron-on patches; spot cleaning is recommended.
  • Velcro patches: these can be swapped on and off the velcro panels of LPS backpacks, so you can remove them before cleaning the bag.
  • Embroidered names: follow the care instructions for the item itself.

Personalised items are final sale, so taking good care of them helps them last. Find patches and bag tags in our bag tags and patches collection.
