DIY Animal Tees for Skyler?s 1st Birthday Party

Le Petit Society?s youngest team member turned 1 last month! We held a simple birthday party at our apartment?s outdoor BBQ pit, booked a big bouncy castle and invited lots of little kids to the party. As party gifts, we thought it would be cute to make personalised tees with the plain pink and grey raglan tees from Le Petit Society's Summer 2016 collection. They were a hit and the adults wanted one for themselves!! So we thought to share with our readers how we did the customisation. We created more than 30 personalised tees over 2 days, although you can probably get them done within a single day.
Above: Owl themed tees for the boys
- Fabric Transfer Sheets: we bought Avery brand from Popular bookstore
- Plain Tees ( Here | Here )
- Computer and Printer
- Scissors and Iron
We used Adobe Illustrator to design the print but you could also create the print using Microsoft Word if you already have the graphics/photo which you want to print on the tee. We created owls for boys and bunnies for girls.
Tip: place as many prints as you can on each sheet to save some costs; in our case, we placed 3 prints on a singlet sheet. Remember to invert the prints so that they would be the right way round when ironed onto the tees!
Using a normal inkjet printer, we printed the bunnies and owls, and cut each ot them, leaving a small border on the edges.
Position the print on the tee and iron on using lots of pressure (we got daddy to do the ironing!)
Since it was Easter weekend when we held the party, we created little carrot tags with a thank you message on each one.
Ta-da! Done! The end result was better than we expected! The quality of the fabric transfer papers is key, and it?s worthwhile spending a bit more on better quality ones.
We tied some helium balloons to each end of the rack for the party. Unfortunately we didn?t manage to take a picture of the display of the tees at the party because they were flying off the rack too quickly, but we managed to capture some of our party guests in the tees!
These personalised tees make perfect party gifts because they are so cute, easy to make and totally wearable!
Hope you enjoyed this tutorial!
